Cranleigh Cottage Hospital, Hazel Morris

The Surrey Historic Buildings Trust offers grants to help repair and conserve historic buildings across Surrey. We support works that protect the architectural heritage of the county, focusing on urgent repairs, conservation of original materials, the implementation of traditional construction skills, and projects that bring buildings back into appropriate use.

Grants are typically awarded for:

  • Structural repairs and weatherproofing
  • Conservation of historic features and materials
  • Feasibility studies or specialist reports
  • Adaptive reuse, where heritage is respected

Eligible applicants include private owners, charities, community groups, and public bodies. Eligible buildings must be of historic interest and are usually either, listed nationally or locally, or located within a Conservation Area.  A complete list of project eligibility / ineligibility criteria can be found on the Grant Application Form.

Grants are assessed case by case, considering need, significance, and public benefit.  We fund a percentage of eligible costs, ideally based on three recent quotations, matched funding is encouraged, and the sum granted is released after successful completion of the work.
