Surrey’s best heritage conservation projects were on show at a major event held at West Horsley Place, one of Surrey’s most significant historic buildings. The winners of the Surrey Heritage Awards 2019 were announced by Mr Matthew Slocombe, Director of the Society for the Protection of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), and the trophy for the overall winner was presented by Mr Michael More-Molyneux, Lord-Lieutenant of Surrey and the Patron of the Surrey Historic Buildings Trust. Surrey Historic Buildings Trust has announced the shortlist for the Surrey Heritage Awards. The six shortlisted nominations are: Lythe Hill Hotel, Chiddingfold Manor Cottage, Shere Oatlands Park Gates, Weybridge Parklands Farm Granary, Ockley Sunt Farmhouse, Oxted, Yew Tree Cottage, Wrecclesham These properties date from between the 15th and 18th centuries and represent some of the most interesting historic buildings in Surrey and ‘Best Practice’ in building conservation. SURREY HERITAGE AWARDS 2017: The Old Barn Motor House scoops top prize
An old barn that has been restored and transformed into a showcase for the Royal Automobile Club’s collection of vintage vehicles has been named Surrey’s best heritage conservation project. Trust will help fund repairs to medieval house and wall in Peaslake
Surrey Historic Buildings Trust had made two grants towards repairs to a medieval building, Old Well Cottage, in Peaslake. This is a Grade II Listed open hall house dating from c.1400. The Trust has made a grant of £1,400 for re-rendering the whole of the front wall in three-coat lime, and a further £2,000 to fund repairs to the boundary wall at the same property. The wall is important because it has a high public profile in a rural location and contributes considerably to the setting of the listed house.
