Trust launches new Surrey Heritage Awards
The Chairman and Trustees of Surrey Historic Buildings Trust are delighted to announce the launch of our new annual Surrey Heritage Awards. The aim of the award scheme is to highlight best practice in conservation, preservation, care, repair and enhancement of Surrey’s historic buildings. The new Heritage Awards scheme is being publicised to all eleven of Surrey’s district and borough councils, and we are encouraging local authorities to seek nominations from within their district in addition to making their own nominations. Welcome to our new Patron
We are delighted to report that Mr Michael More-Molyneux, who recently succeeded Dame Sarah Goad as Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for the County of Surrey, has accepted the invitation from Surrey Historic Buildings Trust to become our Patron. Mr More-Molyneux is the first Patron in the history of the Trust. He is, of course, not only the owner of one of Surrey’s finest historic houses, namely Loseley Park, but is a longstanding and active supporter of the cause of heritage conservation in Surrey, and as such is ideally qualified to be our first-ever Patron. Our latest conservation grants
Surrey Historic Buildings Trust has agreed a further £8,000 in grants for building conservation and restoration projects across Surrey. These included: Funds for the replacement of damaged weatherboarding and an oak door on the 17th century barn at St Piers School, Lingfield Repairing the walls of a medieval hall house, the Old Farmhouse, Outwood Re-rendering the wall of a former coachman’s house at Brockham Warren, Box Hill Repairing the 19th century clock tower at Clockhouse Mews, Godalming Repairing the chapel windows of St Catherine’s School, Bramley.
