HORTON CHAPEL WINS TOP AWARD
Horton Chapel, Epsom has been named overall winner of the Surrey Heritage Awards 2022 organised by Surrey Historic Buildings Trust. Just a few years ago this was a derelict and vandalised building at risk of demolition, but thanks to a community-led heritage regeneration project it has been rescued and transformed into a local arts centre. Surrey Historic Buildings Trust is inviting nominations from property owners, architects, building contractors, conservationists and local authorities for the Surrey Heritage Awards 2019. The Awards recognise “Best Practice” in historic building conservation in Surrey, and in particular for examples of projects that breathe new life into neglected buildings. The 39th Annual General Meeting of Surrey Historic Buildings Trust will be held in The Library at The Royal Automobile Club, Woodcote Park, Wilmerhatch Lane, Epsom, Surrey KT18 7EW, at 3.00pm on Wednesday 10 October 2018. After the meeting, Friends of SHBT will have the opportunity to visit The Old Motor House, home to the RAC’s collection of vintage vehicles.
